More Artists! More Songs! More Excitement! In 2022, we formed a partnership with the Central PA Music Hall of Fame as our music curation partner. This deepened our reach of performers and genres. The result: 33 songs from the area’s best artists including The Badlees, Stuart Malina, Steve Rudolph, No Last Call, Shea Quinn, The Jellybricks feat. Glenn Hamilton, Greg Platzer, Dandy, Susquehanna Chorale, Corina Rose, Seasons, Tony Wayne, Leap of Faith, Amma Jo, Canaan’s Land, and more! Also, this Christmas we’ll introduce a new feature song, co-written in Nashville by Grammy Award winner Phil Madeira with our very own Steve Schwartz, performed by Central PA’s Peter Rogan: A Home For The Holidays. Joy To The Burg adds Greeting Cards! Susquehanna Art Museum joined hands as our new Artwork Curation Partner, producing a set of 8 greeting cards from area visual artists Carol Scott, Stephen Michael Haas, Ross Tyger, Janice Hagstrom Bailor, Brad Gebhart, Nora Carreras, Andrea Minick Rudolph, and Lori Sweet. A new way to spread joy this holiday season to benefit our neighbors facing homelessness!
Events
Back and better than ever: our one hour TV special on ABC27 and a full day of live music at The Englewood in Hershey. TV special will feature 6 songs as well as highlighting the greeting card project and the impact Joy To The Burg is having on homelessness locally. Then, on December 11, celebrate with a full day of live music at the The Englewood in Hershey. A three-hour easy listening brunch will be followed by a five hour music extravaganza featuring an all-star lineup of Joy To The Burg artists. Get your tickets for these special holiday events!
Impact
From 2019-2021, Joy To The Burg raised over $93,000 to support our neighbors facing homelessness in Harrisburg and surrounding communities through the work of Christian Churches United's Street Outreach Team. In 2019, proceeds from Joy To The Burg funded the start of a new women’s winter shelter. In 2020 and 2021, proceeds helped expand men's and women's shelter operations during the pandemic, grew street outreach work (food, laundry, help to find housing, etc.) and sustained people in long-term housing after leaving the street. Over 400 people on the street have been provided 6,000+ nights of sleeping in a warm bed with staff support, while 75 people have been assisted to obtain and maintain long-term housing.
